Kalwa

Kalwa foil plant
Hindalco's 6,000 tpa, foil plant at Kalwa, near Mumbai, is equipped with state-of-the-art foil rolling and converting facilities that allows foil to be rolled down to 7 micron thickness with very close tolerance; and high-tech modern converting facilities.

The unit is responsible for creating appropriate packaging solutions for diverse applications. Its impressive equipment range includes:

  • Two rolling mills of Hunter, Italy
  • Three coater-cum-laminators of Rotoconvert, Hoffman and Kampf makes
  • Extruder from Sumitomo, Japan
  • Twin-head tandem co-extruder, Egan Davis, USA
  • Two multi-colour printing machines from Cerutti, Italy
  • Seven-colour Rotomec printing machine, Italy
  • Electronic engraver, Ohio, USA

Silvassa
Silvassa foil plant
Hindalco's 22,000 tpa foil plant at Silvassa has taken significant strides towards increased value-addition with a rolling capacity of 9 to 200 micron thickness.

As a multi-dimensional performer of international standards, the foil plant, operating well above its capacity is backed by:

  • Five rolling mills, including 'Five Stand Tandem' Mill, which can roll down from 600 microns to 22 microns in a single pass
  • Inert gas annealing furnaces
  • Finstock coating line of Selema, Italy, capable of producing hydrophobic and hydrophilic coated finstock, coated closure stock and coated container foil
  • Converting facilities include wet and dry laminators of mb Srl, Italy, Lubricator of Selema, Italy
  • Cerruti make 6-colour printing machine and Rotomac poly extruder
  • Finishing equipment such as Wickeltechnik separators and heavy, medium and light gauge slitters
  • State-of-the-art three layer blown film line having capacity to produce 20 micron film

In addition to the standard bare and converted pharma, blister, light and medium gauge and household foil, the Silvassa plant has a unique product diversification ranging from bare coated closure stock in coil and sheet form, bare and coated finstock in different tempers to bare and coated container foil and radiator finstock.

Kollur
Kollur foil plant
The 3,000 tpa Kollur plant of Hindalco's subsidiary company, Indal, produces a wide array of high quality foils — from cigarette and blister foil to lidding foil in 50 micron down to 7 micron thickness.

The plant has installed cutting-edge equipment at par with global standards to cater to the burgeoning foil and packaging demand.

  • 1060 mm wide, 4-high universal foil cold rolling mill, operating with the globally recognised Fata Hunter Technology of Italy
  • Foil separator of Midimat, Italy
  • Two machines from Prandi, Italy for various foil lamination processes and coating of cigarette foil, confectionery wrap, blister foil, lidding foil and other substrates used in food and pharma packaging applications
  • Poly extruder of Prandi, Italy extruding various plyethylene grades on foil surface for varied foil structures
  • A five-colour Cerruti printing machine producing various foil printed designs tailored to customers' needs
